When you partner with Space Air, you can be confident that we make worker safety a priority on every HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection project we undertake. From work zone safety to ongoing safety training, upholding rigorous safety standards is at the core of all that we do.
We Take Safety Seriously
Our hands-on approach to workplace safety is a broader part of Space Air’s commitment to the wellbeing of our employees.
Our Work Safety Programs
The holistic safety program we’ve implemented across our business includes:
SAFETY PORTAL
Workers have access to our custom-built mobile app that provides a portal for safety forms along with other documentation, training materials, and weekly toolbox talks.
RED BOOKS
Our teams work to identify new hazards when changes occur in the daily plan by following the steps: Recognize, Eliminate, Discuss.
SOAP FORMS
We use Safety Operation Authorization Permit (SOAP) forms to assess the 12 operations that require a Job Hazard Analysis to be reviewed by the site superintendent and safety director.
JOB HAZARD ANALYSIS
Our site superintendent and safety directors use a six-step Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) to gain an in-depth look at a specific operation to identify and plan for possible hazards.
SAFETY COMMITTEE
Made up of an apprentice and journeyman from each trade, our safety committee meets once a month to share best practices and make collective decisions about safety policies, procedures, and programs.
MONTHLY SAFETY TRAINING
Space Air provides hands-on training for all foremen, project managers, and assistant project managers. Topics include fall protection, rigging, working in confined spaces, and hazard communication.
SERVICE-ORIENTED TRAINING
We provide comprehensive training on NFPA 70-E along with other technician-related topics.
ON-SITE SAFETY TRAINING
We offer employees real-world training by reviewing fundamentals like safe scissor lift operation, proper man lift operation, and how to work safely in confined spaces at the job site.
SAFETY DEPARTMENT TRAINING
Space Air trains area safety coordinators to respond to specific worksite hazards, including asbestos awareness, crane operation, fall protection, and lead awareness.
MONTHLY SAFETY NEWSLETTERS
We send out a monthly safety newsletter to all Space Air employees. The newsletter provides updates on safety recalls, recognizes employees, and tracks incident statistics.
MONTHLY SAFETY EMPHASIS
Each month, a foreman from each trade leads a toolbox talk that focuses on a specific safety theme.
PRINCIPAL SITE WALKS
A safety director and a company principal both conduct weekly safety walks at all of our job sites.
